Bus
From downtown Gary, walk to the nearest bus stop at 5th Avenue and Broadway. Take the Gary Public Transportation Corporation (GPTC) Route 10 towards the Gary Airport. Ride for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the South Shore Line station. Transfer to the South Shore Line train heading towards Chicago. The train ride will take about 50 minutes. Disembark at the Millennium Station in Chicago. From the station, walk north on Michigan Avenue for about 1 mile until you reach the Chicago History Museum located at 1601 N Clark St.

Start at the Gary Metro Center, which is located at 100 W 4th Ave. Take the South Shore Line train towards Chicago. The ride will last approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at the Millennium Station, exit the station and head north on Michigan Avenue. Continue walking for about 1 mile until you arrive at the Chicago History Museum at 1601 N Clark St.
