Start at the Gary Public Transportation Corporation bus terminal. Take the Route 1 bus towards the Westfield Southlake Mall. This bus will take you along 5th Avenue. Disembark at the stop near 25th Avenue and Adams Street. From there, transfer to Route 12, which heads towards the area closer to Pine Station Nature Preserve. Continue on Route 12 until you reach the stop near 35th Avenue and Ewing Avenue. Walk east along 35th Avenue until you reach Pine Station Nature Preserve.

If you prefer to bike, start from downtown Gary and head south on Broadway Street. Continue to 25th Avenue and turn left. Follow 25th Avenue until you reach Ewing Avenue.
