    From downtown Gary, walk to the nearest bus stop at 5th Ave & Broadway. Take the Gary Public Transit bus #10 heading towards the Gary Airport. Ride the bus for about 20 minutes until you reach the stop at 5th Ave & 35th St. Transfer to the bus #20 towards the East Chicago area and ride for another 30 minutes. Get off at the stop at 35th St & Calumet Ave. From there, you can catch a bus #10 heading towards Chicago. After a long journey, you will arrive at the Ukrainian Village in Chicago. The total travel time may take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the wait times for transfers.

    Walk from your location in Gary to the nearest South Shore Line train station (Gary Metro Center). Board a train heading towards Chicago Millennium Station. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Millennium Station, exit the station and walk to the nearby 'State & Adams' bus stop. Take the CTA bus #66 towards the Chicago Avenue & State Street, which will take you directly to the Ukrainian Village area. The total travel time could be around 1.5 hours.

    If you're close to the CTA bus routes, you can take the #70 Division bus from Gary to Chicago. Once you reach 'Western & Division' stop, walk west along Division St for about 10 minutes. Keep walking until you reach the intersection of Division St and Damen Ave. The Ukrainian Village will be just a few blocks to the south, and you can explore the area on foot.
