Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major highway, which is I-65. Take exit 40 for IN-46 W toward Nashville and follow it for about 30 miles. Then turn onto IN-135 S and continue for approximately 10 miles. Finally, take a right onto IN-62 W, where you will see signs for Mauckport. The Last Home of Squire Boone Marker is located at Mauckport, IN 47142. There is free parking available near the marker.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you will first need to reach the nearest bus station in New Albany, IN. From there, take the local bus service that connects to the rural areas surrounding the Hoosier National Forest. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time as services may be limited. Once you reach the closest stop to Mauckport, you will need to either walk or arrange for a local taxi service to take you to the Last Home of Squire Boone Marker. Be aware that there may be a small fee for the taxi service.

• Biking or Walking

  If you are already within Hoosier National Forest and prefer to bike or walk, plan your route using the forest trails leading towards Mauckport. You can access the forest trails from various points in the park. Make sure to have a map of the trails, as some may not be well marked. The distance might vary depending on your starting point, but generally, it can be a scenic route through the forest. Bring water and snacks as you might be away from amenities.
