Getting There

• Public Bus

  From any location in Makassar, head to the nearest public bus terminal. Look for the bus that goes to Maros - commonly labeled ‘Maros’ or ‘Bantimurung’. The bus fare is quite affordable, usually around Rp 20,000. Once on the bus, inform the driver or conductor that you wish to visit Leang Leang Archaeological Park. The bus ride should take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Get off at the Bantimurung stop, which is the closest stop to the park.

• Angkot (Public Minivan)

  You can also take an angkot (public minivan) to Maros. Head to a main road where angkots are available, and catch one heading towards Maros or Bantimurung. The fare is cheap, around Rp 15,000. When you reach Bantimurung, ask the driver to drop you off near the entrance to Leang Leang Archaeological Park, which is about a 10-minute walk from where the angkot will drop you.

• Motorbike Taxi (Ojek)

  For a more direct route, you can use a motorbike taxi (ojek). Use ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab. Enter ‘Leang Leang Archaeological Park’ as your destination. The driver will pick you up from your location in Makassar and take you directly to the park. The ride typically takes about 1 hour depending on traffic, and fares range from Rp 50,000 to Rp 70,000.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you are feeling adventurous and want to enjoy the outdoors, consider renting a bicycle. Many rental shops can be found around the city. From Makassar, follow the main road to Maros, which is about 30 kilometers away. This ride might take 2 to 3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Once in Bantimurung, you can ask locals for directions to Leang Leang Archaeological Park.
