Boat
To reach Samalona Island from Makassar, start by heading to the Paotere Harbor, which is the main harbor for boats going to nearby islands. From the city center, you can take a local 'ojek' motorcycle taxi or a 'bajaj' (three-wheeled vehicle) to get there. Once at Paotere Harbor, look for the boats heading to Samalona Island. The boat ride usually takes about 30-45 minutes. Make sure to check the boat schedules in advance, as they may vary depending on the day and weather conditions.
Public Transport to Harbor
If you prefer to use public transport, take a minibus ('angkot') to the nearest bus terminal (e.g., Mallengkeri Bus Terminal). From there, you can take another minibus heading towards Paotere Harbor. Keep an eye out for signs or ask locals for directions to ensure you are on the right route. Once you arrive at Paotere Harbor, proceed to find the boats to Samalona Island.
