Car
If you are driving from Ambon, the capital of Maluku, take the main road heading east towards the town of Tulehu. From Tulehu, continue driving along the coastal road until you reach the port of Tulehu. This journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once at the port, you will need to park your car and purchase a ferry ticket to Ai Island. The ferry ride will take around 1 hour and costs about IDR 50,000 per person. Upon arriving at Ai Island, you can rent a bicycle or hire a local guide to explore the island.
Public Transportation
To reach Ai Island using public transport, start from Ambon city center and take a public minibus (angkot) to Tulehu. The fare is approximately IDR 10,000 and the ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Tulehu, follow the signs to the ferry terminal, where you can purchase your ferry ticket to Ai Island. The ferry costs around IDR 50,000 per person and takes about 1 hour to reach the island. After arriving at Ai Island, you can opt for local transport options like bicycles or motorbikes to navigate around the island.
