Car
If you are driving from Ambon, take the main road heading southeast towards the city of Masohi. Continue on this road for approximately 4 hours until you reach the town of Tehoru. From Tehoru, follow the signs towards Pantai Ngurtavur, which is about 30 minutes away. The last part of the journey involves a small unpaved road; drive carefully as it can be bumpy. Make sure to have a GPS or a map app on your phone for precise navigation.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Ambon, head to the main bus terminal and catch a bus heading to Masohi. The journey takes around 4 hours. Once you arrive in Masohi, you can take a local minibus or an ojek (motorcycle taxi) to Tehoru. After reaching Tehoru, you will need to hire an ojek to take you to Pantai Ngurtavur, which is about a 30-minute ride. The total cost for the bus ride will be around IDR 50,000, and the ojek from Tehoru to the beach will cost approximately IDR 30,000.
Private Hire (Taxi or Car Rental)
For more comfort, consider hiring a private car or a taxi from Ambon directly to Pantai Ngurtavur. This option allows you to stop along the way for sightseeing. The drive will take roughly 4.5 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; expect to pay around IDR 800,000 to IDR 1,200,000 for a one-way trip. Ensure the driver knows the route well as some parts are less traveled.
