Getting There

  • Minibus (Angkot)

    From Medan, head to the Amplas bus terminal. Once there, look for a minibus (angkot) heading to Berastagi. The fare is usually around IDR 30,000 to IDR 50,000. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Inform the driver or conductor that you want to go to Mount Sibayak or Berastagi, as they will drop you at the appropriate stop.

  • Local Transport in Berastagi

    Once you arrive in Berastagi, you can either take a local angkot or hire a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to reach the base of Mount Sibayak. If taking an angkot, ask for 'Sempajaya' as your destination. The fare should be about IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000. If you prefer to hire an ojek, negotiate the price beforehand, which should be around IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000 for the ride.

  • Hiking

    After reaching the base of Mount Sibayak, prepare for a hike. The trail is well-marked and generally takes about 2 to 3 hours to reach the summit.
