Getting There

  • Car

If you are traveling by car within North Sulawesi, you can easily access various regions of the island. Start your journey from Manado, the capital city. Head south on Jl. Raya Manado-Tomohon (Route 1). Continue for approximately 30 minutes until you reach Tomohon, known for its beautiful landscapes. From Tomohon, take Jl. Raya Tomohon-Langowan (Route 2) towards Langowan, and enjoy a scenic drive through mountainous terrain. Once you arrive in Langowan, you can continue towards the southern part of the island by following the signs to Tondano Lake, which is a popular spot for tourists.

  • Public Transportation - Bus

For those using public transportation, head to the Manado Bus Terminal. From the terminal, you can take a bus that operates routes to various towns in North Sulawesi. Look for buses heading to Tomohon, which are frequent and cost around IDR 20,000 (approximately $1.50). The journey to Tomohon takes about 45 minutes. Once in Tomohon, you can transfer to another bus towards Langowan. Make sure to check the bus schedules, as they can vary throughout the day.

  • Public Transportation - Minivan (Angkot)

Another option for public transport is using the local minivans known as 'angkot'. From Manado, you can catch an angkot from the main street heading to Tomohon. The fare is usually around IDR 10,000 (approximately $0.70). Angkots are smaller and might take longer due to frequent stops, but they offer a unique local experience. Once you arrive in Tomohon, you can continue your journey by switching to another angkot that goes to Langowan.

  • Private Taxi

If you prefer comfort and convenience, consider hiring a private taxi. This is a more expensive option, with fares starting from IDR 200,000 (approximately $14) from Manado to Tomohon.
