If you are traveling by car, you can start your journey from Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. Drive south on the Jalan Lintas Medan - Sidikalang road. After approximately 70 km, you will reach Berastagi, a popular hill station. From Berastagi, continue on the Jalan Raya Berastagi - Kabanjahe road for about 15 km until you reach the village of Jaranguda. Here, you will find signs directing you towards Mount Sibayak. Parking is available at the base of the mountain, which may incur a small fee of around IDR 5,000. Make sure to check local conditions and weather before heading up the mountain.

For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Medan to Berastagi. Buses leave frequently from the central bus station in Medan (Terminal Amplas) and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Upon arrival in Berastagi, you can hire a local 'ojek' (motorcycle taxi) or find a shared taxi to take you to Jaranguda, which is approximately 15 km away.
