Car
From Pulau Bunaken, first take a boat back to the mainland. Boats typically depart from Bunaken Island to Manado. Once you arrive at Manado, you can rent a car or take a taxi. Drive towards Tomohon City. The most common route is to take the Trans Sulawesi Highway (Jalan Raya Sulawesi) heading south. Follow the signs towards Tomohon. The journey may take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. When you reach Tomohon City, follow the signs to Kayawu, which is the area where Mt Lokon is located. You can use a GPS or a map app for precise directions.

Public Transportation
After taking a boat from Pulau Bunaken to Manado, find the public transportation terminal (Terminal Palaran). From there, you can take a minibus (angkot) heading to Tomohon. Inform the driver that you want to go to Tomohon, and they will drop you off at the city center. Once in Tomohon, you can either take a local taxi or another angkot towards Kayawu. The local angkot fare is usually around IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000. Make sure to ask locals for the nearest angkot that goes to Kayawu.

After arriving in Manado from Pulau Bunaken, you can opt for a taxi directly to Mt Lokon. This is the most convenient but also the most expensive option. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand or use a ride-hailing app if available. The taxi ride to Mt Lokon from Manado should take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and the cost could range from IDR 300,000 to IDR 500,000 depending on negotiation and traffic conditions.
