Getting There

  • Car

    From Pulau Bunaken, take a boat back to Manado. Once you arrive at the Manado harbor, drive or hire a taxi heading towards Tomohon. Follow the road signs for Tomohon, which is about 35 kilometers away and will take approximately 1 hour. As you approach Tomohon, keep an eye out for the signs pointing to Tondano Lake. Once you reach the Tondano area, follow the local signs to the lake. There is a small parking area near the lake.

  • Public Transportation

    After taking a boat back to Manado from Pulau Bunaken, head to the Manado bus terminal. Look for a bus or minivan heading to Tomohon. The fare should be around 20,000 IDR (Indonesian Rupiah). The journey will take around 1 hour. Once you arrive in Tomohon, you will need to take a local angkot (shared taxi) or a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to Tondano Lake. The angkot fare should be approximately 15,000 IDR, and the drive will take about 30 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Tondano Lake.

  • Combination of Taxi and Walking

    After returning to Manado via boat from Pulau Bunaken, you can hire a taxi directly to Tondano Lake. This is a more comfortable option, especially if you are traveling with a group. The taxi fare can range from 300,000 to 400,000 IDR. Once the taxi drops you off at Tondano Lake, you can explore the area on foot.
