Car
If you are starting from Tanjung Pinang, take the Jl. D.I. Panjaitan road heading to the east. After approximately 2 hours of driving, you will reach the port of Tanjung Uban. From there, you can take a ferry to Batam. Once you arrive in Batam, you will need to head to the Batam Center Ferry Terminal. From Batam, catch a ferry to the city of Makassar in Sulawesi. Make sure to check the ferry schedules in advance, as they may vary. The ferry ride to Makassar typically takes around 2-3 hours.
Public Transportation
From Tanjung Pinang, you can take a bus to the nearest ferry terminal at Tanjung Uban. Buses leave regularly, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Upon arrival at Tanjung Uban, purchase a ferry ticket to Batam. After reaching Batam, you will need to take a local taxi or ride-sharing service to the Batam Center Ferry Terminal. From there, board a ferry to Makassar in Sulawesi. Make sure to check the ferry departure times and book your ticket in advance, as they can get sold out.
Combination of Car and Ferry
Drive from your location in Riau Islands to the nearest ferry terminal, which is likely Tanjung Uban. This drive should take approximately 2 hours depending on traffic. Once at Tanjung Uban, take a ferry to Batam. After arriving in Batam, drive or take a taxi to the Batam Center Ferry Terminal. Finally, board a ferry to Makassar in Sulawesi. Ensure you have enough time between ferry connections to accommodate any delays.
