If you're driving from Padang, head east on Jalan Raya Padang - Bukittinggi. Continue for about 90 kilometers, following the signs towards Bukittinggi. Once you reach Bukittinggi, follow the signs to Pagaruyung. The Istano Basa Pagaruyung is located at Jl. Sutan Alam Bagagarsyah, Pagaruyung, Tanjung Emas. You may need to pay for tolls along the route, which can cost around IDR 20,000-30,000.

From Padang, take a bus from the Padang Bus Terminal to Bukittinggi. The bus ride takes approximately 2-3 hours and costs around IDR 30,000. Once in Bukittinggi, you can take a local minivan (angkot) or a taxi to Pagaruyung. The fare for the minivan is about IDR 10,000, while a taxi may cost around IDR 50,000-70,000. Make sure to tell the driver your destination is Istano Basa Pagaruyung.
