If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Padang, the capital of West Sumatra. Take the Jalan Raya Padang - Bukittinggi road (also known as Jalan Lintas Sumatera) heading northwest. After approximately 70 kilometers, take the exit towards Pagaruyung. Follow the signs to Istano Basa Pagaruyung, which is located about 7 kilometers from the exit. The entrance is situated at GJHC+FHJ, Jl. Sutan Alam Bagagarsyah, Pagaruyung. Parking is available at the site, but be prepared for a small parking fee.
