Car
If you are traveling by car, start from your location in South Kalimantan and head towards the nearest major road leading to Jakarta. You will likely take the Trans Kalimantan Highway (Route 1) heading west towards Central Jakarta. Once in Jakarta, use GPS navigation to direct you to Monas at Merdeka Square, Gambir, Central Jakarta City. Parking is available near Monas, but be prepared to pay a parking fee that can range from IDR 5,000 to IDR 20,000, depending on the duration of your stay.
Bus
For those using public transportation, first take a bus from your location to the nearest major bus terminal that services Jakarta (e.g., Terminal Barito or Terminal Kalideres). Purchase a ticket to Jakarta, which may cost around IDR 200,000 to IDR 400,000 based on the bus company and class. Upon arrival at the Jakarta bus terminal, you can take the TransJakarta bus service to Monas by boarding the bus line that heads towards the Gambir area. The fare for the TransJakarta bus is around IDR 3,500. Make sure to get off at the Monas stop.
Train
If you prefer to travel by train, head to the nearest train station in South Kalimantan and purchase a ticket to Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta. Train fares can vary but generally range from IDR 150,000 to IDR 300,000. Once you arrive at Pasar Senen Station, use a ride-hailing app or local taxi to travel to Monas, which should cost around IDR 30,000 to IDR 50,000 depending on traffic.
Ride-Hailing Services
Alternatively, you can use ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab once you arrive in Jakarta. Simply enter 'Monas' or 'Merdeka Square' as your destination. The cost for this service from various locations within Jakarta can vary, typically ranging from IDR 20,000 to IDR 60,000.
Use Monas as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
