If you're driving from Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi, head northeast on the Trans Sulawesi Highway (Route 1). The journey is approximately 400 kilometers and will take around 10 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. You will pass through small towns and beautiful landscapes. Make sure to refuel in larger towns like Donggala or Luwuk along the way. Once you reach Luwuk, continue on Route 1 towards Banggai Laut until you reach the ferry terminal.

From Palu, take a long-distance bus to Luwuk. Buses depart regularly from the Palu bus terminal and the trip will take around 8-10 hours, costing approximately IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000. Once in Luwuk, you will need to find transportation to the ferry terminal. Local taxis or shared 'angkot' (minivans) are available. The fare to the ferry terminal is about IDR 20,000.
