Car
If you're driving from Jakarta or other parts of West Java, take the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road towards Cirebon. Then, follow the signs to the Purbaleunyi toll road towards Bandung. You can exit at the Kopo toll gate and follow the road to the south through Soreang. Continue to follow the signs to Tabanan, Bali. Once you reach the Bali island via ferry from Gilimanuk, head towards Tabanan. Once you reach Tabanan, follow the signs to Tanah Lot, which is located in Beraban, Kediri. You will need to pay for the ferry ticket, which costs around IDR 30,000 per person (prices may vary). The journey can take approximately 3-4 hours depending on traffic.
Public Transportation
From Jakarta, you can take a bus from the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal to Denpasar, Bali. The bus ride takes around 20-24 hours, so be prepared for a long journey. Once you arrive in Denpasar, head to the local bus terminal and take a bus to Tabanan. The fare for this bus is approximately IDR 30,000. After reaching Tabanan, you can take a local taxi or ride-hailing service to Tanah Lot, which is about 30 minutes away. The taxi fare should be around IDR 100,000 - 150,000.
Combination (Car + Ferry)
For those in the southern parts of West Java, like Bandung, you can drive to the ferry terminal at Merak. The drive takes around 3-4 hours. Once at the Merak ferry terminal, take a ferry to Bakauheni in Sumatra. The ferry ride takes about 2 hours. After disembarking, continue your journey by car, following the signs to Tabanan, Bali via the Pan-Asian Highway, and then to Denpasar. Finally, drive to Tanah Lot, which is approximately 30 minutes from Denpasar. The ferry fare is around IDR 100,000 for a vehicle.
