If you are traveling by car, you can rent a vehicle in the city of Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan, or nearby Sintang. Start your journey by heading east on Jalan Raya Pontianak-Sintang. The total distance is approximately 400 kilometers, and it will take around 8-10 hours depending on traffic. Follow the signs towards Sintang, and once you reach Sintang, continue on Jalan Raya Sintang-Merpak for about 30 kilometers until you reach the village of Merpak. From Merpak, you will find local roads leading up to Mount Kelam. Make sure to fill up on fuel before leaving the city, as there are limited stations along the way.

Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Mount Kelam via public transportation, first, take a bus from Pontianak to Sintang. Buses depart frequently from the main bus terminal in Pontianak. The journey will take about 10-12 hours and cost around IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000. Upon arrival in Sintang, take a local minibus or ojek (motorcycle taxi) to Merpak, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. The minibus fare is about IDR 20,000. Once in Merpak, you can hire a local guide or take a motorcycle taxi to reach the base of Mount Kelam.

Once you arrive in Merpak, you can hire an ojek (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the foot of Mount Kelam. The ride should cost around IDR 30,000. It is advisable to negotiate the price beforehand.
