Getting There

  • Public Transit

    From downtown Council Bluffs, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Metro Transit bus route 3 towards Omaha. Get off at the 3rd Avenue and Broadway stop, which is a central location in Council Bluffs. From there, you will want to walk north on 3rd Avenue until you reach the intersection with 16th Street. Turn left (west) onto 16th Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Avenue A. Here, you can catch another bus, route 4, towards the 9th Avenue route. Ride until you reach the stop near 24th Street and Avenue A. After getting off, walk south on 24th Street, which leads you directly to Lewis and Clark Park. The park is located at 19962 Monument Rd, just a short walk from the bus stop.

    If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local bike rental services in Council Bluffs. Start your journey from downtown Council Bluffs and head east towards the Riverfront Trail. Follow the trail which will take you along the Missouri River, providing scenic views. Continue on the trail until you reach the intersection with Monument Road. Turn left onto Monument Road, and you will find Lewis and Clark Park at the end of the road, approximately a 30-minute bike ride from the downtown area.

    For those who enjoy walking, start at the Council Bluffs Public Library located at 400 Willow Ave. From the library, head north on Willow Avenue until you reach the intersection with 16th Street. Turn right (east) onto 16th Street and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Avenue A. At Avenue A, turn left and continue walking until you reach the intersection with 24th Street. From here, turn right (south) and follow 24th Street, which will lead you directly to Lewis and Clark Park. The walk will take approximately 1 hour.
