Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown Des Moines, head to the nearest bus stop. You can catch the DART (Des Moines Area Regional Transit) bus route 3 towards 'Merle Hay Mall'. Ride for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the 'Northeast 14th Street & E. Douglas Avenue' stop. From there, transfer to bus route 6, which will take you directly towards Altoona. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at '34th Avenue NW'. Adventureland Park will be a short walk from this stop.

  If you're up for a ride, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many bike-sharing stations in downtown Des Moines. Start by heading northeast on E. Locust Street until you reach the Des Moines River Trail. Follow the trail north until it connects with the bike lane on NE 14th Street. Continue on NE 14th Street until you reach Adventureland Park, which is located at 305 34th Ave NW. The ride will take roughly 40 minutes.

  For a more direct route, consider using a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft. Simply enter 'Adventureland Park, 305 34th Ave NW, Altoona, IA 50009' as your destination. The drive from downtown Des Moines typically takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

• Walking

  For the adventurous walker, you can walk from downtown Des Moines to Adventureland Park. Start at the Iowa State Capitol and head northeast on E. Grand Avenue. Continue walking until you reach NE 14th Street, then follow this road all the way to Altoona. This route is approximately 8 miles and would take about 2.5 to 3 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!
