    Discover more about Grandview Park

Nestled in the hills of central Sioux City, Grandview Park has been a cherished destination since its establishment in 1908. The park's 32 acres provide a picturesque setting with panoramic views of the city. The park's history is intertwined with Sioux City's development. In the late 1800s, the area was chosen as the site for the city's water reservoir, with the first reservoir constructed in 1885. As the city expanded, the surrounding land was transformed into a park, offering a place for recreation and relaxation. Grandview Park boasts several notable landmarks. The Art Deco bandshell, constructed in 1935 as a Civilian Works Administration project, is a masterpiece designed by local architect Henry Kamphoefner. It has been home to the Sioux City Municipal Band since 1948 and hosts the annual Saturday in the Park music festival, drawing crowds of over 25,000. The bandshell is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Grandview Park Rose Garden, established in 1937, adds to the park's beauty. Designed by landscape architect Newell Guernsey, the garden features over 100 varieties of roses. A statue of Abraham Lincoln, donated in 1924 by John and Elizabeth Magoun, stands at the park's entrance on 24th Street. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities at Grandview Park, including walking, running, and picnicking. A playground provides entertainment for children. The park is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM.
