Trinity Heights, located in Sioux City, Iowa, is a 16-acre spiritual park and shrine that offers a peaceful retreat for visitors of all faiths. Developed on the grounds of the former Trinity College and High School, the site was conceived in 1985 by Father Harold Cooper, inspired by a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary he saw in California. Trinity Heights officially opened in 1990 and has since welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors. The main features of Trinity Heights include the impressive stainless steel sculpture of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Peace, standing 30 feet tall, and the 33-foot statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. These iconic statues anchor the grounds and serve as focal points for contemplation. The park also features the St. Joseph Center, which houses a remarkable 22-foot-long, life-sized wood carving of the Last Supper. Created by local artist Jerry Traufler, the sculpture is based on Leonardo Da Vinci's painting, with the figures modeled after the artist's friends and family. Throughout Trinity Heights, visitors can explore various shrines dedicated to the Virgin Mary, including Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Fatima, and Our Lady of Lourdes. The outdoor Stations of the Cross provide a path for prayer and reflection on the life of Jesus. The Circle of Life memorial features the "Rachel Weeping" sculpture, dedicated to the victims of abortion, offering a space for forgiveness and hope. The Way of the Saints presents sculptures and plaques detailing the lives of various saints.
