Trinity Heights: A Midwest Shrine

Trinity Heights, located in Sioux City, Iowa, is a 16-acre shrine and garden offering visitors a peaceful and reflective environment. Founded in 1992 by Father Harold Cooper, inspired by a statue of the Virgin Mary he saw in California, Trinity Heights has become a significant religious destination in the Midwest.The grounds feature several prominent religious monuments and shrines. The 33-foot stainless steel statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the 30-foot statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Queen of Peace are iconic landmarks. Visitors can explore various gardens, including those dedicated to the rosary, the unborn, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Way of the Cross, with its depictions of Jesus's journey, provides a contemplative experience.The St. Joseph Center houses a remarkable 22-foot-long, life-sized wood carving of the Last Supper, created by Jerry Traufler. This impressive sculpture is one of only three "in the round" wood sculptures of its kind in the world. The Marian Center Gift Shop offers a variety of religious items and souvenirs. Trinity Heights hosts regular religious services and events, including daily Masses and rosaries.Trinity Heights is open to people of all faiths and provides a serene setting for personal meditation and spiritual reflection.
