Bacon Creek Park, located in the northeast of Sioux City, Iowa, is a 239-acre park offering a variety of outdoor activities and natural beauty. The park is centered around Bacon Creek Lake, a 34-acre lake suitable for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Note that no boat rentals are available. The park features a well-maintained, approximately 3-mile-long paved trail that loops around the creek, ideal for walking, jogging, and strollers. For mountain biking and trail running enthusiasts, there is also a separate 6-mile single-track trail. The trails meander through woodland and wetland habitats, offering scenic views and a chance to observe local wildlife. Bacon Creek Park also includes a popular off-leash dog park, providing a safe and enclosed space for dogs to socialize and exercise. Families can take advantage of the picnic areas equipped with tables and grills, as well as two play structures for children. Restrooms are available on the east side of the park along the main road. The park is open year-round, offering different seasonal experiences. In autumn, visitors can enjoy the vibrant fall foliage, while the winter landscape provides a serene backdrop for a peaceful walk.

    From the Martin Luther King Jr. Transportation Center in downtown Sioux City, take the Route 1 bus towards Morningside College. After approximately 15 minutes, disembark at the stop at 27th Street and Correctionville Road. From there, walk east on Correctionville Road for about 10 minutes to reach Bacon Creek Park, located at 5015 Correctionville Rd. A single bus fare costs $1.25.

    Bacon Creek Park is located at 5015 Correctionville Road in Sioux City. From the city center, drive northeast on Correctionville Road. The park will be on your left. There are several parking lots available throughout the park, and parking is free.
