Anglers can catch largemouth bass, sunfish, channel catfish, crappie, and yellow perch.The park's origins trace back to the 1930s when local citizens raised funds to create a state park. With assistance from the Works Progress Administration (WPA), the dam was built, and the lake was filled by 1938. The Iowa Conservation Commission officially dedicated Mill Creek State Park on October 1, 1938.Today, Mill Creek Park features 48 campsites with modern amenities, camping cabins, a concession stand (open Memorial Day to Labor Day), and a lodge that can accommodate 80 people. Visitors can explore hiking and biking trails, enjoy the swimming beach and playground, and observe birds and wildlife. The Mill Creek Trails feature color-coded signs, distance markings, and QR codes for interactive education about the park's flora and fauna.The park is open year-round, with the campground open from April 15 through October 31. During winter, visitors can utilize the aerated fishing platform. Mill Creek Park continues to evolve with ongoing improvements and a commitment to providing quality experiences for all visitors.
