The Waterloo Elks Club, officially Lodge 290, has been a cornerstone of the Waterloo community since its founding on October 12, 1894. Rooted in the values of fidelity, brotherly love, charity, and justice, the Elks have actively contributed to civic projects and community support throughout their history.The Elks purchased the property in 1917 from the Julian Richards estate. In 1924, the current building was constructed to serve as a permanent home for the lodge. The building itself is a landmark, boasting elegant architecture and meticulously preserved details, including Tiffany stained glass. Inside, visitors can find a ballroom, member's bar, card room, and billiard room. The building also features multiple event spaces, including the Ballroom, Brass Lounge, Gatsby's Restaurant, Lodge Room, and Park Avenue Lounge.Today, the Waterloo Elks Club continues its tradition of community involvement, supporting veterans, youth programs, and various local initiatives. The club also serves as a venue for weddings, receptions, and other events, offering catering services and a full-service bar.
