Built in 1902 for Henry Weis, a local businessman who revolutionized egg packaging, the mansion showcases a transitional architectural style blending Queen Anne and Colonial Revival elements.Stepping inside is like stepping back in time, with period furnishings, intricate woodwork, stained glass windows, and a grand staircase. The home features at least seven types of old-world wood throughout. Each of the six uniquely decorated suites is named after significant owners of the home. Modern amenities such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning ensure a comfortable stay.Guests can enjoy a homemade breakfast daily, featuring local ingredients. The B&B is conveniently located near Waterloo's Grout Museum District, including the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, Grout Museum of History and Science, and the Rensselaer Russell House Museum. The Weis Mansion provides a quiet escape and personalized accommodations for those seeking something different from a typical hotel experience.The mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. In 2022, Christopher and Kelly Schmitz purchased the home and reopened it as The Historic Weis Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
