Getting There

  • Walking

    From the West Des Moines City Hall, head east on 5th Street towards 1st Avenue. Turn left onto 1st Avenue and continue walking for about 1 mile. You will cross over the Raccoon River. After crossing the bridge, continue straight as 1st Avenue turns into Robert D. Ray Drive. The Robert D. Ray Asian Garden will be on your left, just past the intersection with E 7th Street.

    Take the DART bus route 3 (Green Route) from the West Des Moines City Hall stop. Ride the bus towards downtown Des Moines and get off at the East 5th Street & Grand Avenue stop. From there, walk east on Grand Avenue for about 0.4 miles until you reach Robert D. Ray Drive. Turn left on Robert D. Ray Drive, and the Asian Garden will be on your left.

    If you are renting a bike, start at the West Des Moines City Hall and head east on 5th Street. Turn left onto 1st Avenue and bike straight for about 1 mile until you reach Robert D. Ray Drive.
