    The E.B. Lyons Interpretive Center is located at 8991 Bellevue Heights Rd, Dubuque, IA. From downtown Dubuque, head south on Main St, then continue onto US-61 S/IA-32 S toward Bellevue. Take the exit toward IA-3 E/Bellevue and merge onto Bellevue Heights Rd. Continue for about 1 mile; the center will be on your left. Parking is free.

Learn about Julien Dubuque, the area's first European settler, and the significance of the lead mines that once thrived here. The center also features exhibits on the local ecosystem, showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of the region. A children's activity room with live native Iowa animals and a bird viewing room add to the experience.Outside, immerse yourself in nature with a stroll through the Betty Hauptli Bird and Butterfly Garden, wander through native prairies and woodland flower gardens, or embark on one of the many hiking trails. The trails range in difficulty, offering options for casual walkers and experienced hikers alike. Don't miss the America's State Tree Woodland Walk, where you can identify trees from all 50 states. The historic Junkermann farm site provides a glimpse into the area's agricultural past.The Mines of Spain area offers 21 miles of maintained hiking trails. In winter, enjoy 6 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails. The Horseshoe Bluff Trail offers scenic views.
