Discover more about ام البروم

Located in the heart of Basrah, ام البروم (Em Al-Burum) is a lush garden that provides a tranquil retreat from the city's vibrant life. The garden is known for its verdant landscapes, colorful flowers, and well-maintained pathways, making it perfect for relaxed walks and picnics. The sweet fragrance of blooming flowers and the gentle rustling of leaves create a peaceful ambiance, offering a sensory escape. Historically, the area of ام البروم has significance. It was once a cemetery for the residents of Al Ashar and nearby areas. However, due to the urban development of Al Ashar, the government prohibited burials in 1933. Later, under the administration of Tahsin Ali, the cemetery was removed, and a garden was established in its place. Initially named King Ghazi Garden, extending to the Al-Khandaq River, it was later renamed Al-Shaab Garden (People's Garden). Unfortunately, construction and urban sprawl led to the garden's decline, replaced by municipal garages and a telecommunications building. Today, ام البروم provides a green space for locals and tourists alike. It serves as a reminder of Basrah's history and offers a place to relax and connect with nature. Whether you're a photography enthusiast or simply seeking a break from the heat, this garden offers a refreshing experience.
