Car
If you're traveling by car, start by navigating towards Baghdad via the main roads leading from Diyala Region. Take the route towards the Baghdad-Diyala highway (Route 1). Once you approach Baghdad, follow signs for the city center. You will need to drive towards central Baghdad where Tahrir Square is located. Look for landmarks such as the Al-Jumhuriya Bridge as a reference point, which is nearby. Tahrir Square is in the heart of Baghdad and can be accessed easily from this area. Parking may be limited, so it may require finding a nearby parking lot or street parking.
Public Transportation
To reach Tahrir Square using public transportation, look for shared taxis or 'microbuses' that head towards Baghdad. Ensure you are on a bus or taxi that specifies it goes to the city center. The fare for a shared taxi can range from 5,000 to 10,000 IQD depending on your starting point. Once you arrive in Baghdad, ask the driver to drop you off at Tahrir Square or nearby landmarks such as the Al-Jumhuriya Bridge, which is a short walk away from the square.
Walking from a Nearby Drop-off Point
If you are dropped off near the Al-Jumhuriya Bridge or in the central Baghdad area, you can easily walk to Tahrir Square. From the bridge, head straight towards the square, following the main road. It should take about 10 to 15 minutes to walk there. Make sure to stay aware of your surroundings, as this is a busy area.
