    From Erbil, take a taxi or private car to Choman, the town closest to Halgurd Mountain. The journey is approximately 3.5 hours. Taxis can be found at Erbil International Airport or arranged through your hotel. Expect to pay around IQD 50,000 - 70,000 for the taxi. From Choman, arrange for a local 4x4 to take you as far as possible up the mountain. Negotiate the price beforehand, typically around IQD 30,000 - 50,000.

  • Public Transport

    From Erbil, take a minibus from the Erbil International Bus Terminal to Soran. The minibus leaves when full and costs around IQD 6,000. From Soran, take another minibus to Choman. From Choman, you will need to hire a local 4x4, as public transport to the mountain is limited. Negotiate the price beforehand, typically around IQD 30,000 - 50,000.
