In 1998, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) began cleaning up the area, and the park officially opened to the public on March 14, 2000. Today, the park welcomes thousands of visitors daily, offering a rose garden, wild animals, birds, a health club, swimming pool, gym, two lakes, and a public library.
