Once in Choman, hire a local taxi or arrange a ride with other travelers to take you to the mountain's base, roughly 95km away. Negotiate the taxi fare in advance, typically around 10,000-20,000 IQD.

If traveling by car, head out of Erbil city towards the Erbil-Duhok Highway. After about 30 kilometers, look for signs pointing towards Halgurd Mountain. Take a right turn onto the road leading to the mountain. The journey from Erbil to the base of Halgurd Mountain typically takes about 3.5 hours. Be prepared for potential tolls along the way. From Choman, the drive to the trailhead involves a 95km drive, some of which is on a dirt road.
