    From Erbil, head north on the Erbil Barzan Road, enjoying the mountainous landscape. Follow signs to Goratu and then use GPS coordinates 36.83444, 44.22094 to navigate to Shanidar Cave. Parking is available near the site. Be aware that the final stretch involves winding mountain roads.

    Take a bus from Erbil to Duhok. From Duhok, hire a local taxi or find public transportation to Goratu and inform the driver of your destination, Shanidar Cave. Expect the total travel time to be approximately 3 to 4 hours. Bus fare from Erbil to Duhok is around 2,000 to 5,000 IQD. Additional taxi fare from Duhok to Goratu will vary.
