Car
From Erbil, drive northeast towards Shaqlawa, then Soran, and finally Choman. From Choman, follow the road southwest for approximately 30 kilometers, looking for signs for Halgurd Mountain. Turn onto the smaller road leading to the mountain's base. Be prepared for unpaved sections. There are no entry fees.
Public Transport
From Erbil's main bus station, take a minibus towards Dohuk. Inform the driver you want to stop at Bekhal, the closest village to Halgurd Mountain. The minibus fare is approximately 2,000 IQD. From Bekhal, hire a local taxi for around 5,000 IQD to reach the mountain's base.
Taxi
From Choman, a taxi can be hired to take you to the base of Halgurd Mountain. Negotiate the fare in advance, typically around 10,000 IQD. The ride takes you through scenic routes, with the mountain looming closer as you approach.
