Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, start from the city of Basra, which is a common entry point to Southern Iraq. Take the Al-Qadisiyyah Highway (Route 40) heading north. After approximately 500 km, you will reach the city of Erbil. Once in Erbil, follow signs towards the Erbil Governorate. Continue on the main road for about 20 km until you reach the PVJ6+FM8 coordinates of Halgurd Mountain. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for mountainous terrain, as the last few kilometers may require a 4WD.

  • Public Transportation

    To travel by public transportation, take a bus from Basra to Erbil. Buses run frequently and the journey takes around 8 hours. Once you arrive in Erbil, find a local taxi or shared taxi to take you to Halgurd Mountain. This should cost around 10,000 IQD (Iraqi Dinar) for the taxi ride to the base of the mountain.
