Ferries operate year-round from Rossaveel, approximately 37 km west of Galway City, and seasonally from Galway City and Doolin. From Rossaveel, the ferry to Inis Mór takes about 40 minutes. From Doolin, the ferry takes approximately 35 minutes. Ferry tickets range from €22-€34 for a single adult fare from Rossaveel. A return ticket will cost between €23 and €45 from Doolin. Once on Inis Mór, you'll arrive at Kilronan. From there, Aran Thatch Cottage is located in Oughil, approximately 4.5 km from the main village. You can take a taxi, pony and trap, or rent a bike to reach the cottage.

Bicycle
A popular way to get around Inis Mór is by bicycle. You can rent a bike from one of the rental shops near the Kilronan pier upon arrival. Bike rentals typically cost around €15-€20 per day. From Kilronan, cycle northwest towards Oughil. The route is approximately 4.5 km and should take about 15-20 minutes. Be prepared for some hills along the way. Follow the road signs for Oughil.
