Walking
Starting from the center of Athlone, head south on Church Street towards the River Shannon. Cross the bridge over the river, which is the Athlone Bridge. Once across, turn left onto the riverside promenade. Follow the promenade along the river for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the N61 road. Turn right onto N61 and continue for another 2 kilometers. You will see signs for Shannon Bridge, which is in the District of Freedom area in Limerick.

From Athlone, walk to the Athlone Bus Station located on the west side of the town. Take the bus number 23 or any bus heading towards Limerick. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
