Discover more about Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery Visitor Experience

The Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery Visitor Experience offers an immersive journey into the world of Irish whiskey, set in the heart of Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Tullamore D.E.W. is the second most popular Irish whiskey in the world. The original Tullamore Distillery was established in 1829. In 1862, at the age of 14, Daniel Edmund Williams (the D.E.W. in Tullamore D.E.W.) started his apprenticeship there. He later went on to become General Manager and then owner of the distillery. The distillery ceased production in Tullamore by 1954, but distilling returned to Tullamore in 2014. The distillery tour provides a behind-the-scenes look at the whiskey-making process, from milling and mashing to fermentation, distillation, and maturation. Visitors can explore the Still House, witness the heat from the bubbling stills, and inhale the aromas of whiskey aging in 50,000 oak casks. A unique highlight is the custom-built warehouse snug, where you can 'dip the dog' and taste whiskey straight from the cask. The experience begins with an Irish coffee and includes a premium whiskey tasting of three expressions of Tullamore D.E.W. Visitors also have the option to create their own unique blend of Tullamore D.E.W. to bottle and take away for an additional cost. The distillery spans 58 acres where whiskey is milled, mashed, fermented, distilled, matured and bottled, all on one site.
