Located in a beautifully restored former Methodist church on Bridge Street, the museum is run by the Tullowphelim Historical Society. The museum's collection is diverse, featuring items related to local history, including artifacts from the 1798 Rebellion, with a particular focus on Father John Murphy, a leader of the uprising who was executed in Tullow. Visitors can view what are believed to be his last vestments. The museum also holds a collection of historical photographs, genealogical information on local gravestones, and items related to the renowned Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. The building itself has a history, dating back to 1860 when it was built as a Methodist church. In 1999, the Tullowphelim Historical Society purchased the building and converted it into the museum. The museum welcomes donations of artifacts and information, especially photographs, to further enrich its collection.
