Car
If you are driving, head towards Limerick City. Use the N18 road to reach the city center. Once you are in Limerick, follow signs for the city center and then for 'King John's Castle'. You will reach Nicholas Street, where the castle is located. There is limited parking in the area, so consider parking at the nearby King John's Castle car park or in one of the city center car parks and walking to the castle.
Public Transportation
To reach King John's Castle by public transport, take a bus to Limerick City. Most buses from surrounding areas will drop you off in the city center. Once you arrive at the main bus station (Colbert Station), exit the station and walk towards O'Connell Street. From there, you can either take a short walk (about 15 minutes) towards Nicholas Street or catch a local bus that stops near the castle. Follow the signs for King John's Castle, and you will arrive at the entrance.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of Limerick City, you can easily walk to King John's Castle. From O'Connell Street, walk towards the River Shannon. Cross the river using the Sarsfield Bridge, then follow the path along the riverbank towards Nicholas Street. The castle will be on your right side. It’s approximately a 20-minute walk from O'Connell Street.
