If you're traveling by car, start from Roscommon town. Head northwest on the N61 towards Boyle. After approximately 18 km, take a left onto the R297 towards Tullymurray. Continue on this road for about 5 km until you see signs for Scardan Waterfall. The waterfall is located on an unnamed road off the R297. There is limited parking available nearby, so be mindful of local parking regulations.
Public Transportation
To reach Scardan Waterfall using public transport, take a bus from Roscommon town to Boyle. Buses are operated by Bus Éireann and the journey takes around 30 minutes. Once in Boyle, you will need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Scardan Waterfall, as there is no direct public transport to the site. Taxis can be booked in advance or found at the bus station. The taxi ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Expect to pay around €20-€30 for the taxi fare.
Walking
If you are already in Boyle and prefer walking, you can take a scenic route to Scardan Waterfall. From the town center, head northwest on the R297. After about 4 km, you will find the unnamed road leading to the waterfall. The walk is approximately 1 hour and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
