As you approach Strokestown, take the R368 exit toward Elphin. Continue on R368 for about 8 kilometers until you reach the village of Tulsk. From Tulsk, follow the signs for Rathcroghan Mound, which is located just a short distance away. The mound is situated at Rathcave, Co. Roscommon. There is free parking available on-site.
Public Transportation
To reach Rathcroghan Mound via public transport, take a bus from Roscommon town to Tulsk. This service is provided by Bus Éireann and typically runs several times a day. Upon reaching Tulsk, you will need to arrange for a taxi to take you the remaining distance of about 3 kilometers to Rathcroghan Mound, as public transport options are limited in this rural area. Be sure to check the latest bus schedules and fares, which may vary. Expect to pay around €10-€15 for the taxi ride.
Walking
If you are already in Tulsk and prefer to walk, you can follow the R368 road toward Rathcroghan Mound. The walk is approximately 3 kilometers and will take around 30 to 40 minutes. The path is fairly straightforward, and you will see signs directing you to the mound along the way.
