Car
If you're traveling by car, start by heading northwest from Sligo town. Take the N4 road and follow the signs toward Ballaghaderreen. After approximately 8.5 km, take the exit onto the N15 at the roundabout. Continue on the N15 for around 7 km until you reach the junction for the R287. Turn left onto the R287 and follow this road for about 5 km. As you approach Castledargan, look for the local signs directing you to Dargan castle ruins. The ruins will be located at the coordinates 54.2003568, -8.4223324. Parking is available nearby, but be mindful that this is a rural area.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transport, take a bus from Sligo town to Ballisodare. You can catch the 471 or 472 buses which depart regularly from the main bus station. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Ballisodare, you will need to catch a taxi or arrange a rideshare to reach Dargan castle ruins. The distance from Ballisodare to the castle is approximately 10 km, and taxi fares can vary but expect to pay around €15-€20. Ensure you confirm the fare with the driver before starting your trip.
