Car
If you are driving from the center of Croagh Patrick, head north on the R335 road towards Westport. Continue on the R335 for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the N59. Turn right onto the N59 and follow it for about 3 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Cloonmonad or Roman Island, and turn left onto a smaller road that leads towards Cloonmonad. Continue straight for about 2 kilometers until you arrive at Roman Island Woods, which is located on your right.
Public Transportation
To reach Roman Island Woods via public transportation, start by taking a bus from Croagh Patrick to Westport. You can catch a bus at the local bus stop; check the local schedule for timings. Once you arrive in Westport, transfer to a bus heading towards Ballina and ask the driver to let you off at Cloonmonad. From the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer along the local roads to reach Roman Island Woods. Ensure to check bus schedules ahead of time as service frequency may vary.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of Cloonmonad and prefer to walk, start from the center of Cloonmonad village. Head east on the main road for about 1 kilometer, then turn left onto a smaller road that leads directly to Roman Island Woods. The walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace.
