Walking
If you're starting from Drogheda town center, head south on West Street towards the River Boyne. Cross the river using the Boyne Bridge and continue straight onto the R132 road. Follow the R132, and after approximately 3 kilometers, you will reach the junction with the R168. Turn left onto the R168 (Mellifont Road). Continue for about 2 kilometers until you see the signs for Old Mellifont Abbey on your right. The abbey is located just off the road. The entire walk should take around 50 minutes.
Public Transport
From Drogheda, head to the nearest bus stop. You can take Bus Eireann route 163 towards Dundalk. Get off at the stop for Tullyallen Village. From there, it’s a short 15-minute walk: head north on the main road, and after a few minutes, you will notice signs directing you to Old Mellifont Abbey. The bus journey takes about 20 minutes, and the walk will add an additional 15 minutes.
