Getting There

  • Bus

    From Galway city center, head to the Eyre Square Bus Station. Take Bus No. 51 towards Ennis. The journey takes about 50 minutes. Get off at the Clareabbey stop. From the bus stop, walk along Limerick Rd towards the east for approximately 5 minutes. Clare Abbey will be on your left.

  • Train

    Walk to Galway Train Station located near the city center. Purchase a ticket to Ennis. The train ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Ennis Train Station, exit the station and walk to the nearest bus stop (located just outside the station) to catch Bus No. 51 towards Clareabbey. Alight at the Clareabbey stop and walk east along Limerick Rd for about 5 minutes to reach Clare Abbey on your left.

  • Walking

    If you are staying in the vicinity of Ennis, you can walk to Clare Abbey. From the town center, head south on O'Connell Street, then take a right onto the Limerick Rd. Continue walking straight for about 20 minutes until you see Clare Abbey on your left.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Galway city. Take the N18 route towards Ennis, which has a designated cycling lane. It’s approximately a 15 km ride and will take about 45 minutes. Once you reach Ennis, follow the signs for Clareabbey, and continue on Limerick Rd for another 5 minutes until you reach Clare Abbey on your left.
