Experience Eyre Square

Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are near Quay Street, start by heading east towards High Street. Continue walking along High Street until you reach the intersection with Shop Street. Turn right onto Shop Street, a popular pedestrian area filled with shops and cafés. Walk straight until you see the large archway leading into Eyre Square. The square will be directly ahead of you. Look out for the large sculpture and the fountain in the center.

    If you are at the Galway Cathedral, exit the cathedral and head south towards the river. Cross the Salmon Weir bridge. Once you are on the other side, turn right and walk along the riverbank until you reach the end of the path. Turn left onto Forster Street, which will lead you directly into Eyre Square.

    From the Spanish Arch, walk along the Quay towards the city center. Follow the Quay until you reach the intersection with Eglinton Street. Turn left onto Eglinton Street and continue straight until you reach the main thoroughfare, which will lead you to Eyre Square. Look for the large green area with benches and sculptures; you have arrived at your destination.
